Statement Regarding Acts of Racism at American University

"The horrific acts of racism that occurred yesterday at American University should be exposed and condemned by all, and those responsible should be brought to justice by university officials and law enforcement. Such attacks on Black students have happened before at American University, and racism like it regularly occurs on campuses across the nation. All students deserve the right to an education free of racism, trauma, and intimidation.

"We support the organizing of Black students whose safeties have been threatened. The mass withdrawal of students and protesting that have been taking place since yesterday should be heard, affirmed, and amplified. American University must take real action on racism on their campus, rather than issue empty statements from university officials.

"The GW College Democrats stand in solidarity with Alpha Kappa Alpha and Black students at American University."
