Statement on National Gun Violence Awareness Day

"Today is a day not only of remembrance, but of organizing and action. We have the opportunity to reflect upon the epidemic of gun violence in our nation, and the thousands of lives each year that it claims. This is a day to move past partisan politics and reinvigorate efforts on both sides of the aisle to save American citizens' lives. We know that our country can do better than this. GW College Democrats honors the Americans impacted by gun violence everyday and urge our members to #WearOrange today and beyond to help raise awareness and support a safer country. We owe it to the victim's loved ones to make common sense reforms."
