Official Statement on the Passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg

"Tonight, we are heartbroken by the passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. RBG was a tireless advocate for equality and justice from the moment she took office as the nation's second woman to serve on the Supreme Court, up until her very last breath. May her memory be a blessing to her family, her friends, and the millions of people who drew inspiration from her incredible life.

"RBG's dying wish was for her successor on the Supreme Court to be picked by the next president. We must all do everything we can to make sure that wish is honored. If Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell are given the chance, they will secure a right-wing majority on the Supreme Court for decades to come. Life-or-death issues—from reproductive choice to the very survival of American democracy—depend on this seat. The fight has to start right now.
